West Street Cemetery, Rutland, VT

The above monument lists the veterans buried in West Street Cemetery.
There is an issue - James Ross is listed on the monument, and there is a military headstone in the cemetery (see below). James M. Ross (1839-1900), 1st Vermont Cavalry, is actually buried in New Vermont Cemetery, Bolton, NY, where he was born and died. The headstone in West Street Cemetery was ordered based on a Dr. James Ross (1809-1880), of Rutland, who was not actually a veteran. The soldier came from New York and enlisted in Rutland, which caused some confusion in the 1950s when the headstone was erroneously ordered and set in the cemetery.
