Obituary

BRANDON

Capt. John W. Chase died Thursday morning, aged 70 years. For the past two years he has suffered from asthma and general debility so much that he could hardly go about. During the war he assisted materially in recruiting the 2d battery of light artillery and went to the front as one of the second lieutenants of that organization. He served with credit until the battery was mustered out of the United States service at the close of the war, July 31, 1865. Since the war he has passed most of his life in Brandon, and he has been a much respected citizen.
