Obituary

CIVIL WAR VETERAN

William Cobb Died Monday at Age of 85 Years.

William Cobb, 85 years old and a Civil war veteran, died at his home in East Middlebury Monday, September 18, after an illness of a few weeks. He had been in failing health for the past three years. Mr. Cobb was born in New Haven, January 25, 1853, and had been a resident of East Middlebury for the past ten years. He was the son of Harvey and Amanda (Bryant) Cobb, and is survived by a nephew, Willis Cobb, of East Orange, N.J. Funeral services were held from his late home yesterday morning at ten o'clock, Rev. Milo Jeffrey officiating, and burial was in New Haven, beside his wife. Before going to East Middlebury Mr. Cobb was for many years deputy sheriff and keeper of the Addison County jail.
