Obituary

OLD SOLDIER LAID TO REST

E.A. Deso, Civil War Veteran, Dies Friday After Long Illness.

E.A. Deso, 74 years old, died at his home on Pine street Friday morning, May 7 after a long illness.

He was a Civil War veteran, enlisting at the age of 18. Though born in Fairfax, Mr. Deso lived most of his life in Swanton, coming about 40 years ago. He was engaged in the meat business here for 20 years.

The deceased is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. H.W. Smith of Coteau Junction, Que., and two sons, Bert, of Albany, N.Y., and Eugene, of Ware, Mass.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Church of the Nativity with burial in St. Mary's cemetery.
