Oliver Ellis
Ellis, Oliver - born Dedham, Mass., 11 Jan., 1819, son of James and Hannah (Colburn) Ellis.. He married 1st, Ruth Barker.. He m. 2nd, Hattie Jane Robbins. He died at his home near the Depot in Chester, Vt., of kindey trouble, 12 Jan., 1896 (age 77 years,11 months, 29 days). He was a soldier of the Civil War, Col. "E", 16th Reg't. Vt. Vols. NEWS: 20 Jan., 1893: "Jan 11th being 75th anniv. of Oliver Ellis, he celebrated it by inviting the Odd Fellows to his house in the eve., where a fine meal was served. 15 of them, accompanied by wives, attended, taking w/them a handsome easy chair as a token of the esteem in which he was held. The presentation speech by Hon Hugh Henry was made in his usual appropriate and happy manner."
