Joseph Alphonse Fontaine, aged 63 years, who died Thursday at his home in Greenfield, Mass., at the age of 18 years enlisted as a private under Captain Edwin Rich in Company E, Fourteenth Vermont Volunteers, for nine years, being honorably discharged at Brattleboro July 30, 1863,at the expiration of his service.Contributed by Tom Boudreau
