John W. Getchell, 91, Plainfield's oldest man and a Civil War veteran, died Sunday night at 11:35, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Brown, in Plainfield. Mr. Getchell became 90 years old April 22. He had been confined to the bed for six weeks. He is survived by one brother, Gorham Getchell, of St. Johnsbury, nine children, 51 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.Contributed by Tom Boudreau.
