Dec. 9, 1909John Gleason aged 80 years, died Wednesday at the Soldiers' Home. During the Civil war he served as a private in Company H, 14th Vt. regiment. His body was taken to his home in Rutland this afternoon for burial.

Dec. 11, 1909The body of John E. Gleason who died in the Soldiers' Home in Bennington on Wednesday, was brought to this city Thursday afternoon at 6:30 o'clock, and was taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. John Travers on Meadow street. The funeral was held Friday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Peter's church. - Rutland Herald
