George W. Hardy

Death of a Vermont Soldier

George W. Hardy, a native of Amoskeag, died on the 12th inst., at Dongola, Illinois. The deceased was a member of the class of '69 in the Scientific Department of the Dartmouth College, and left a year ago on account of ill health, and took up his residence in the West. He enlisted in the Fourth Vermont Regiment in 1861 and served four years.


Military Record: HARDY, GEORGE W., Hartford, enlisted 8/26/61, mustered in 9/21/61, reenlisted 12/15/63; transferred to Co. D, 2/25/65; promoted Corporal 6/24/65, mustered out 7/13/65.
