Obituary

DEATHS

In New Orleans, La., July 18th, of diptheria, Chester P. Howard,, aged 22 years, - a member of the 8th Regiment Vt. Vols. He was ever a ready soldier.

Farewell my brother, dear, farewell!
Thy years now call thee hence.
And leave but half on earth to dwell,
Till death my end commence.

But,oh, how hard to be alone,
To part with one so dear!
But he has gone to seek a home
And I must linger here.

Sleep then, the grave shall be thy rest,
And close thy peaceful eyes;
Rest in the mansion Jesus blest,
Till He shall bid thee rise.
