Charles R. Farr

Springfield Republican, January 31, 1917

Charles Russell ar, 77, died in his home in Munroe street at 5.15 o'clock yesterday afaternoon after a short illness. Mr. Farr enlisted in the 1st Vermont cavalry and became corporal, having been in 46 engagements. For 25 years he was head janitor in the Northampton schools, and was a member of Nonotuck lodge, Odd Fellows. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Watkins, a grandson, Russell Watkins, a brother, George D. Farr, and a sister, Mrs. Eleanor Davis, both of Chesterfield, N.H. The funeral will be held in his home to-morrow afternoon, the Grand Army, of which he was a member, attending in a body.
