Biography
WILLIAM KIRKLAND volunteered from the town of Barre, Vt., August 25th, 1862 at the age of 21, and joined Company H. Mustered out with his regiment July 21st, 1863, returned home but remained in civil life but a few days, and then re-enlisted into Third Battery Light Artillery, September 5th, 1863, and continued in the service until the close of the war, and then was mustered out with a good clean record as a soldier.
