AMASA LACKEY DEAD AT 95
Veteran of Civil War Moved to Brattleboro Two Years Ago.
Amasa Lackey, 95 years old, a native of Highgate Springs, Vt., and a veteran of the 8th Vermont regiment in the civil war, died Monday night in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lillian E. Dunham, on the Vernon road, after a brief illness with pneumonia. Mr. Lackey was born April 10,1820, and married at the outbreak of the war Miss Lucy Stone, who died many years ago. Two years ago Mr. Lackey came to Brattleboro to make his home with his daughter. Besides her he leaves one son, Eleasa Lackey of West Fairlee, Vt. The funeral will be held this morning at 9:30 o'clock in the home, Rev. George E. Tomkinson, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. The body will be taken to Braintree, Vt., for burial.
