Alvah N. Learned

LEONARD/LEARNED, Alvah N. born in Fairfax, Vt. ca. 1845, son of Newton 7 Sarah (Dinsmore) Learned. He m. Ruth E. Carruth. He d. 27 Aug., 1916 (age 71). d. at the Soldiers' Home in Bennington Sunday morning after a week's illness from cancer. He was for many years a great sufferer from rheumatism. He entered the soldier's home from Chester last April, is wife going to live with their eldest son in Massachusetts. He was for many years a leading farmer, living on the Butternut Hill Road. Surv: wife, (2) sons, Guy and Percy, and a daughter, Frances. (CIVIL WAR soldier) ... Father: Newton Merritt Learned, born Fairfax, Vt., 1 May, 1809, son of Asa & Apphia (Stickney) Learned. He m. in Fairfax, Vt., 17 May, 1840, Sarah Dinsmore.
