John P. Perkins, 71 years old, a Civil war veteran, died of heart failure at his home on Main street Thursday morning at 8 o'clock. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Minnie Hall, and one grand-daughter, Miss Laura Hall, who made their home with Mr. Perkins. He was born in Fair Haven, moving here to Hydeville in 1883. He enlisted in 1862 in company F, 14th Vermont. The funeral will be held from his late home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery, Fair Haven.
