Obituary

MARTIN V. POTTER DEAD
Lifetime Resident of Bennington Dies of Pneumonia

Martin Van Buren Potter, 83, lifelong resident of Bennington, died Friday at the home of his nephew, Jay F. Armstrong of the Pownal Road, with whom he has made his home for the past 27 years. Death was due to pneumonia after an illness of six days, although he has been in failing health for three months. He was born in Bennington September 13, 1842 and was a son of Lorin J. And Flarilla Harris Potter.

Mr. Potter, who never married, was a Civil war veteran and a member of the First Congregational church. Among his survivors are two brothers, John Fay Potter of Shaftsbury, and Daniel Potter of the Winslow Home of Bennington. He also leaves 15 nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Monday t 2:30 o'clock at the home of his nephew, Jay P. Armstrong. Rev. Stanley Cummings, pastor of the Sacred Heart Congregational church will officiate.
