Chester W. Ross
Rutland Daily Herald, Feb. 7, 1899:
Middlebury - Chester W. Ross died at his late home on Franklin street Sunday evening. Ross has been ill for the past year and for the past seven weeks has been confined to the bed. His death was caused by cancer of the liver. Three daughters survive, Mrs. Thomas A. Little, Bloomington, Ill., and Misses Lillie and May Ross of Middlebury. He was 79 years old and was born in Royalton in 1820. He has been a resident of Middlebury for 67 years. He was a veteran of the civil war, enlisting in company E, 14th Vermont. The funeral will be held from his late home this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Mr. Carlson will officiate.
