Evander M. Sanborn

News & Citizen: AUGUST 24, 1898

The people of this place were shocked to learn Tuesday morning that E. M. Sanborn had been found dead in bed. Mrs Sanborn was obliged to remain downstairs through the night to take care of her father, who is very old and feeble. When Mr. Sandborn did not rise in the morning as usual, she went to their room to learn why, and found him with one hand under his head seemingly to be asleep. She spoke to him several times, and receiving no answer went up to him, and was shcked to find him dead. Death had seemed to come without a struggle. The doctor was called and it was pronounced that he had been dead over an hour. Mr. Sanborn leaves a wife and two daughters, besides many other relatives to mourn his loss. He was an old soldier, a charter member of the G.A.R., and a Mason. The funeral will be held at the church Thursday afternoon at 2 0'clock.
