John W. Sears, a Civil war veteran, who had spent most of his life in this place, died at his home on First street at 6 o'clock Saturday night, after a long illness with a complication of diseases. He was 66 years old and is survived by his wife. He served all through the Civil war and was a member of company B, 17th Vermont volunteers. Funeral arrangements have not as yet been made.
