Biography
CHARLES D. SWAZEY volunteered August 25, 1899 from Montpelier and joined Company IHe was a practicing attorney with good prospects of success in his chosen profession. He served his country bravely and well and returned to his home when his term of enlistment had expired with health impaired and succumbed to consumption a few years later.

LAMOILLE NEWSDEALER: JUNE 7,1865
Chas. D. Swasey, Esq. of this village, died at Minneapolis, Minn., June 2d. His disease was consumption, contracted during his service in Virginia, in Co. I, 13th Vermont Volunteers. He was a member of Washington County Bar, a young man of fine talents, and was greatly beloved by all who knew him.----Montpelier Freeman
