Nelson B. Tewksbury

Nelson B. Tewksbury, postmaster and the only merchant of Newbury Center, died on Wednesday as the result of an overdose of laudanum. He was a veteran of the Civil War and was about 63 years of age. He was a native of Newbury and commenced trade in the Center about 1868. He had been postmaster ever since. In politics he was a Democrat. Some five years ago he received $15,000 from the estate of a sister who died in Waterloo, P.Q.Courtesy of Tom Boudreau.
