Obituary

The Vermont Journal, April 21, 1911

Death of Allen Ethan Houghton

Allen E. Houghton, a life long resident of Windsor, died at his home on April 19. Mr. Houghton was 74 years of age on Dec. 12 last.

Funeral service was conducted by Rev. R. S. Barrow on Friday the 21st., and burial was in Ascutney cemetery. Mr. Houghton lived out a useful life, was a kind neighbor and loyal citizen. He had held the offices of lister and selectman. He was a veteran of the civil war, having been a member of Co., A, 12th., Vermont Volunteers.

He was the youngest of a family of 14 children and was the last of them to pass away.

On February 22, 1866, he was married to Lucia A. Winn, who survives him. Their only son, James died several years ago.
