Leman E. Wood

Rutland Daily Herald, June 22, 1927

Fair Haven - L. E. Wood, private in company F., 14th Vermont regiment, during the Civil war, died at his home Tuesday morning. Mr. Wood was born in Rupert October 25, 1840, and moved with his parents to West Haven when seven years of age. He came to Fair Haven in 1866 and married Ann Eliza Chase in that year. His wife died May 9, 1924. They had lived together for 58 years. Mr. Wood enlisted in the 14th Vermont volunteers in 1862. He is survived by a niece, Miss Carrie Harrison of this place, and a nephew, Ranford Harrison, of Waterbury, Conn. The funeral will be held at the house Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. A.G. Miller, pastor of St. Luke's church, will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery.
