Silas B. Morrison was Veteran of the Civil War.

Groton, Nov. 19. - Silas B. Morrison died last evening at his home in the village, after a long period of failing health. Mr. Morrison was about 78 years of age. He was a respected citizen, warm-hearted and well liked by all. He was a veteran of the Civil war. For several years he carried the mail between the post office and the railroad station, making six trips daily through good and bad weather until compelled by health to give it up a year and a half ago. Deceased leaves his wife, two daughters by a former marriage, Mrs. Helen Welch of Groton, and Mrs. Claude Powers of Claremont, N.H.; two sisters, Mrs. J.W. Balch of St. Johnsbury and Mrs. William Welch of Dakota, and two brothers, A.M. Morrison of Barre, and Joseph who resides in the West. Funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon at his late home.
