Obituary

MONTPELIER
Funeral of Mr. Phelps

The funeral of John F. Phelps was held at his residence on Berlin street Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock. The services were conducted by the Grand Army, John W. Smith having charge. Rev. G. O. Webster, the Baptist pastor, preached the funeral sermon. Mr. Phelps died last Monday of cancer, leaving two sons and one daughter his wife having died about two years ago. He was 60 years of age and for many years he has been a constant attendant at the Bethany church and Sunday school. The bearers were Hiram S. Smith, William D. Smith, L. M.; Hutchinson and Charles McCluskey.
