Our citizens were shocked Saturday morning at the report that Herbert C. Hatch had committed suicide. Mr. Hatch has been for many years well known here, having at one time carried on quite an extensive meat business, and for t he past few years coming in daily with milk form his farm about one mile out, on the New Hampshire side of the river. During the past few months he has been somewhat unfortunate in business matters. Saturday morning he went out to milk at the usual time, and not appearing at breakfast search was made for him, and he was found hanging by a rope in his barn. He had evidently been dead some little time. The blows falls with crushing force on his family, which consists of a wife and four children. His funeral was held Monday afternoon, Rev. W. I. Todd officiating in the absence of Rev. Mr. Dascomb, whose church the family attended. About 25 members of the G.A.R., of which he was a member, attended the funeral in uniform.
