Rutland Daily Herald, March 4, 1909:
Andrew Ness, for many years a resident of this city, died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Ellis on the Whipple Hollow Road at West Rutland.
Mr. Ness was born at Landier, Scotland 73 years ago, and for 25 years was a resident of Rutland. He was a veteran of the Civil war.
The funeral will be held at the home of Mrs. Ellis in West Rutland tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.
