Capt. Dexter B. Towne died Sunday August 27, after a long and painful illness. Mr. Towne was a veteran of the Civil war, having served four years in Co. F, 7th Vt. Vols. Beside a wife he leaves one son, Frank A. Towne, of Swanton, and two daughters, Mrs. Ira Hunter and Mrs. D. D. Sowles of this place. He was 74 years old and had been postmaster in this place for the past four years.
