Obituary
George W. Clifford, aged 74, a prominent Civil war veteran, died at his home in Gardner, Mass., Jan. 5. Mr. Clifford was born in Derby Center, Vt., and when 18 enlisted as a private in K company, 30th Massachusetts volunteer infantry. After the war ended he served 14 years as quartermaster in the regular army. He was an owner of considerable real estate in Gardner and had been retired for 25 years.
