Local Veteran Died This Morning At
Soldiers' Home

Harvey H. Allen, aged 85 years, an inmate of the Soldiers' Home, died early this morning at that institution following a several months illness.

Mr. Allen was a native of Bennington where he was born Sept. 19, 1830. Following the death of his wife in 1911 he entered the home. He was a member of Co. E, 10th Vt. He was well known in town and had many friends.

Surviving are one son, Herbert Allen, one sister, Mrs. Martha Ferguson, and two brothers, Frank B. and Fred Allen, all of this town.

The funeral will be held from the home of his son, Herbert H. Allen, Bradford street, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. P.L. Dow of the Methodist church officiating. The burial will be in the village cemetery.
