Obituary

LYNDON CENTRE

Caleb Garfield was born at Concord February 27, 1825, and died at Lyndon Center, February 13, 1905, after a six weeks' illness from a complication of diseases. In 1852, he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Goodell of Lyndon, who died eight years ago. They had three children, Azro, of Springfield, Mass., Edwin, of Burke, and Mrs. W. H. Downer of Lyndon Centre, with whom he has resided for several years, and who has most tenderly and faithfully cared for him in his declining years. He leaves the record of an honest man, faithful to home and friends and interested in all that pertained to the good of the community. Funeral services were held at his daughter's home in this village February 15, Rev. E. Newell officiating. Remains were laid to rest beside those of his wife in our cemetery.
