The Vermont Journal, January 14, 1865

At Felchville, Jan. 7th, Alzamon D. Amsden, aged 44 years, 9 months and 27 days; a member of Co. H, 17th Vt. vols.; was home on furlough, sick with chronic diarrhea, and gradually wasted away. He served 9 months in Co. H, 16th Vt. Vols.

His lids he so seldom could close,

By sickness forbidden to sleep,

Now sealed in their mortal repose,

Have strangely forgotten to weep.
