Biography

EDWARD E. AUSTIN volunteered from the town of Rochester, August 26th, 1862 at the age of 25, soldiering was too hard for his constitution and was taken sick and sent to the hospital from which he was discharged for disability and returned home where he soon recovered and re-enlisted into Company M, 1st Regt., Vt. Cav., August 9th, 1864, and was mustered out June 21st, 1865. (See page 330 for his pictures.)
