Charles S. Curler
An Associated Press article in the Mason City Globe Gazette (Mason City, Iowa), dateline Perry, Thursday, Jan. 6, 1944, page 3, reported the death the previous day of Charles Sylvanus Curler, 95, Dallas County Iowa's last surviving Civil War veteran. It states he was born in Ferrisburg, Vt., and served in a New York Infantry regiment from 1863 to 1865.
