ANOTHER VETERAN GONE
John Bartlett of South Shaftsbury Died at Soldiers' Home
John Bartlett died at the Soldiers' home Sunday morning, May 5. He was born in South Shaftsbury September 7, 1842, and first came to the home July 19, 1901 and again June 6, 1911.
He enlisted in Co. A, 4th Vt., Aug. 13, 1861, and was discharged for disability March 7, 1863; enlisted in 2d Vt. Battery Aug. 22, 1864 and was mustered out June 10, 1865. Four brothers also served in the Union army, all dead except David, who has been at the home since April 9, 1913.
The funeral will be held at the Home chapel at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. P.L. Dow officiating clergyman and burial will be at South Shaftsbury.
