Postal HistoryCollector Jim Bennetch, bennetch@verizon.net, has very graciously provided us with some great examples of Vermont Civil War covers, with backgrounds on the soldiers and technical details on the covers.
Recent Addition
Postal cover sent by George Eaton Selleck, 8th Vermont, to his wife in Brattleboro, postmarked in Martinsburgh, WV on 17 Oct. (1864), just two days before the battle of Cedar Creek. in which George commanded Co. I (but escaped injury). The penciled "Oct 9, 1864" indicates the date of the letter (which has been lost over time).
