Collector Jim Bennetch, firstname.lastname@example.org, has very graciously provided us with some great examples of Vermont Civil War covers, with backgrounds on the soldiers and technical details on the covers.

(1864), just two days before the battle of Cedar Creek. in which George commanded Co. I (but escaped injury). The penciled "Oct 9, 1864" indicates the date of the letter (which has been lost over time).
