OrdersSTATE OF VERMONT.
Adjutant and Inspector General's Office,
Woodstock, August 11, 1862.General Order No. 11
In pursuance of directions issued by the President of the United States, dated the ninth day of August, A. D. 1862 it is hereby ordered as follows:--
- The Listers of the several towns in this State will forthwith enrol all able bodied male citizens, between the ages of eighteen and forty-five, in their respective towns, giving the age, name and occupation of each, together with Remarks2,showing whether he is in the service of the United States, and in what capacity, and any other facts, which may determine his exemption from military duty.
- Duplicate lists of said enrolment are to be made, and duly certified by the Listers, and one of said lists shall be returned to the office of the Town Clerk of such town, and the other of said lists is to be returned to the Adjutant and Inspector General of this State, at Woodstock.
- Said lists are to be seasonably returned, so that they shall be received in the office of the Town Clerk and of the Adjutant and Inspector General, respectively, by or before twelve o'clock, noon, of the twenty-fifth day of August, A. D. 1862.
