STATE OF VERMONT

Adjutant and Inspector General's Office.
Woodstock, December 5, 1864.

General Order No. 3.

Colonel and Acting Surgeon General Samuel W. Thayer, of Burlington, is hereby appointed Surgeon General of the State of Vermont, with the rank of Brigadier General,--to date from the twenty-second day of November, A. D. 1864,--under and pursuance of an act of the General Assembly of the State of Vermont, entitled, "An Act for Organizing the Militia," approved November 22, 1864. He will be obeyed and respected accordingly.
