Aaron KelloggFort Slocum June 19 Dear Mrs. Melandy Not having eney thing to do this afternoon, I thought I would rite you a few lines. I am in good helth and enjoy myself as well as may be expected. It has ben very warm hear for a few days past but is cooler to day. Mrs. Stebing is not very well. We have ben practicing at target shooting with the canons and mortars of the Fort. The Rebels have ben reported to be 6 miles from hear. I would like to have them come and see what the Bloody 11th was made of. The boys are all well as usal. I supose Elling is to work for Mr. Melandy. If he is rite hell get along. I would like to hear form Washburn. I do not think of much more to rite at this time. Rite all the news.
