PECK, Cassius (1842-1913)
Born 3 Mar 1842, Brookfield. Died 12 Jul 1913; buried New Brookfield Cemetery, Brookfield. Private, Co. F, 1st U.S. Sharpshooters, credited to Brookfield. At Blackburn's Ford, VA, on 19 Sep 1862, he "took command of such soldiers as he could get and attacked and captured a Confederate battery of 4 guns. Also, while on reconnaissance, overtook and captured a Confederate solider." Medal of Honor issued 12 Oct 1892. (NARA File: R&P 340943)
RIPLEY, William Y. W. (1832-1905)
Born 31 Dec 1832. Died 16 Dec 1905; buried Evergreen Cemetery, Rutland (Block 27, Lot 22). Lieutenant Colonel, 1st U.S. Sharpshooters, credited to Rutland. At Malvern Hill, VA, on 1 Jul 1862, "at a critical moment brought up two regiments, which he led against the enemy himself, being severely wounded." Medal of Honor issued 11 Mar 1893.
